Lecture: Dizziness–A Resource?

How can we navigate together through states of destabilising dizziness? Can the loss of orientation provide creative momentum? The artistic research Dizziness–A Resource defined dizziness as an unpredictable movement, or the sensation of such motion, causing a shift from the given to the uncertain. Dizziness was established as a sensory (vestibular, proprioceptive, interoceptive) and mental phenomenon that destabilises, and evokes a moment of surprise, or even aporia. Whether frightening turmoil or enjoyable ilinx by becoming dizzy, we enter a stage of instability and vulnerability. The ensuing feelings of uncertainty mark our interaction with our environment.Ruth Anderwald + Leonhard Grond
