How can we navigate together through states of destabilising dizziness? Can the loss of orientation provide creative momentum? The artistic research Dizziness–A Resource defined dizziness as an unpredictable movement, or the sensation of such motion, causing a shift from the given to the uncertain. Dizziness was established as a sensory (vestibular, proprioceptive, interoceptive) and mental phenomenon that destabilises, and evokes a moment of surprise, or even aporia. Whether frightening turmoil or enjoyable ilinx by becoming dizzy, we enter a stage of instability and vulnerability. The Unit for History and Philosophy of Art, Design and Technology at Shenkar provides a conceptual foundation and intellectual backdrop for the study of design and art. It includes theoretical courses that offer a body of information about theories of design and art, visual culture, philosophy and social sciences and cultural movements in various fields.
